Our New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 (Applied) programme is designed to ensure that learners have well rounded skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in an academic context.
The programme will enable learners to gain the general language skills required to participate with increasing independence and fluency in an academic English Language context.
This qualification is at a level comparable to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Low B2. Completion of the programme and the award of the qualification will allow educational institutions to make informed judgements regarding the level at which the learner can use English in an academic context.
Course duration: 18 academic weeks

Classes: 23 hours per week

The Level 3 Applied qualification is intended to enable language development in different applied settings, academic, community and/or employment context(s).
Our NZCEL Level 3 (Applied) programme is assessed using unit standards, allowing students to pass stage by stage units as they progress. NZCEL results are validated by the NZQA with no expiry date.
NZCEL Level 3 (Applied) prepares students for success at tertiary level. By the completion of the programme, the learner should be able to think analytically about language in order to be an independent learner and take advantage of second language immersion, thus equipping the learner for further study and thriving in the academic environment.
The qualification is aligned with The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), an international standard for describing language ability being used around the world to describe learners’ language skills.

NZCEL Level 3 Applied Certificate on the exit provides English skills similar to IELTS 5.5 or CERF low B2.
